English Muffin Bread

June 15, 2010

This was the second of the breads my husband wanted me to make this weekend.  Really, I’m not surprised.  Who doesn’t love English muffins?  I love them and this bread doesn’t disappoint.

If you cut it into 10 slices, it’s 3 point a slice

Tools:

Bread Machine

Measuring Cups

This is another one of those bread recipes that, if you don’t have a machine, you can still make.  Just mix and knead by hand, let it rise to double it’s size, repeat, then bake

Ingredients:

1 cup WATER

2 EGG WHITES

1/2 teaspoons BAKING SODA

3 1/2 cups BREAD FLOUR

2 1/4 teaspoons YEAST (again, a yeast packet will work)

Directions:

Simple as always, throw everything in and let the machine do the job: I was surprised that this didn’t get bigger than it did, it was a small loaf:

But, small and mighty:

My Comments:

This didn’t turn out as big as I was thinking it would and it doesn’t have those classic “nooks and crannies” but it is still good.  This will make a grea breakfast bread for toast and a bit of butter and maybe even peanut butter on it…very good!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup WATER

2 EGG WHITES

1/2 teaspoons BAKING SODA

3 1/2 cups BREAD FLOUR

2 1/4 teaspoons YEAST (again, a yeast packet will work)

Directions:

Throw it in the machine and press start!
